Newton Jazire is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer for Botswana Insurance Company Group including Insure Guard (Pty) Ltd and Botswana Insurance Company (Pty) Ltd. Since taking up the role of Group CEO in 2018, Newton has grown BIC into the Leading Insurance Company by Market Share, as well as being awarded The Top Insurer for Botswana by PMR, the Chartered Institute of Customer Management and the Global Banking & Finance Awards in 2021,22 and 23.

Newton has been recognised by shareholders and media, for his exceptional business transformation leadership by enabling the Digital Transformation and Multi-Channel distribution agenda of the BIC Group, with the intent to bolster its customer and intermediary engagement capability.

Newton’s passion for the insurance industry resulted in his election as the Chairman of The Botswana Short Term Insurance Underwriters Association (BSTIUA) in 2020 and 2021. He was also appointed as a member of the Management Board of the Organisation of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers (OESAI) and as Chairman of the Insurance Institute of Botswana in 2023.

Not only has Newton been successful in Botswana but was previously the Managing Director of Lion of Africa Assurance Company in Uganda, a post which he successfully held for over 5 years. During his tenure at Lion Assurance, he not only increased shareholder value, revenue, and the company's profitability, he also grew the company's asset and investment base and positioned Lion Assurance as one of the biggest and most profitable top 3 insurance companies in Uganda, now known as Sanlam General Insurance.

From an academic perspective, Newton holds a Masters in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa-School of Business , B.com Insurance and Risk Management (NUST, Zimbabwe) , IEDP (WITS & London Business School) and is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner (UK).

Newton featured on the front cover of the Premier Edition of “CEO Africa” in 2021, where he was recognised for his leadership and commercial prowess. He was also featured on the cover of the Chief Navigators Magazine as one of the Most Influential Black Leaders to follow in 2023. Newton attributes his success to his visionary leadership, people motivation, strategy formulation, sound business development, customer relations management including Government relations and stakeholder management.
